I'm not going to bother with this silly "homecoming" event. You may have your fun, but I won't be a part of it. Thank you very much.

Also, if you're a tailor, seamstress, or anything of the like - may I have a moment of your time? I'd like to put in a request for something to be made.

[ A few days after music class with Austria, Diana has decided to practice a few pieces of varying music either in the auditorium of the high school, right in the music room, or hell - even in the church. She's not religious by any means, but she will make use of what she has to her. And, so, she can be found at the organ in the church, playing this piece. It's honestly a challenge to her, but it's a welcome one. Go ahead and bother her, but try to not interrupt her from her playing. She's very intently focused on this. ]

[ While Diana's in her classes, she's busy scribbling down not the notes, but yet transmutation circles. She's making herself learn new ones as well as applying the knowledge she already has. She's humming a little song under her breath, her eyes closed. At least she isn't falling randomly asleep. Yet. ]

[ Action | Around Mayfield ]

[ Maybe school or the church is not for you, so Diana can be found bustling in various shops to buy posterboard and other such materials. While she'd like to design her posters on a computer, she doesn't have that option available to her, unfortunately. Again, she'll make do with what she has for now. She does seem to be a little distracted as she's figuring out how to design the posters to make them visually pleasing and invite as many people as possible, though. Therefore, it should be easy to distract her from doing this. ]

[Susan pauses for a moment or two before humming the exact song Diana was just humming under her breath. This is the only time you will hear anything musical out of her.]

[ ... Damn it. She simply sighs and shakes her head. ]

Very well, I shall cease.

And perhaps you could explain to me after class what you're drawing.

[This doesn't hold a 'you're in trouble' vibe so much as a 'I'm curious' vibe. Diana may not notice, but the classroom also froze for the duration of that one statement. Private business was private business.]

[ Diana is grateful for that, even with the classroom freezing in time itself. She gives a little smile to Susan to show her thanks for what she did. ]

[And the rest of the class is spent discussing the merits of Elizabeth Bennet simply beating Darcy over the head, insisting on being treated as an equal, and marrying him straight off.

The bell rings to the intense relief of everyone, almost including Susan.]

[ Diana has sketched a few complex circles in the duration of class and then begins to collect her supplies. She stays true to her promise, though, and goes to Susan's desk. ]

[Susan doesn't mince words.]

The Rite of Ashk'Ente is one of those silly little rituals wizards like to come up with to maintain appearances. They're all pentagrams and arcane signs and occult symbols.

Mm, I see.

What I'm doing, though, is something I'm still entirely new at. I'm learning just the theory of alchemy right now, but I do hope to practice actually applying it soon.

Alchemy? ...Is that something native to your home?

No, but I'm being taught it by someone in Mayfield.

Hm.

[Susan pauses briefly.]

To my knowledge, skills don't transfer well. That is, your world's pixie magic stays with you, but doesn't rub off on anyone else. I haven't seen anything more complicated than hammering techniques being taught successfully.

Well, I see it as why just stop at what I can do from my world? Why not try to get more knowledge and more techniques under my belt so that I can be of some use around here in various fields?

I don't care for things such as limitations as far as abilities are concerned, because if you have a desire to learn something, then why not strive to perform it as best as you can?

[Susan almost smiles.]

At risk of clipping your wings, what I mean is that Mayfield may have restrictions on this sort of thing. You can learn the theory, of course, but in practice, you might find that your magic circles do nothing more than serve as wall decor. It would be a bit like learning about chemistry without having any of the reactions working.

If you're satisfied with that, by all means, proceed.

We'll have to wait and see on that, won't we?

...I would, however, suggest you put your efforts into something more practical. And less likely to leave you with disfiguring injuries. You don't seem like the type to be very interested in gold.

I know the whole myth to turn lead into gold is just that - a myth. And, this isn't the only interest I'm working on while here in Mayfield.

[ Really, the more you give her to do, the less likely she's going to be bored. ]

You'd better tell the Alchemists in my world. We wait with bated breath for the day they turn lead into chlorine gas instead of gold.

If it were possible from here, I would. But, alas, it isn't.

I'll just ask that you don't blow yourself up in class, then.

I won't. I'm not that stupid.

It's said that there are two good types of Alchemists. Athletes who can dive behind an upturned table in three seconds flat, or intellectuals who know exactly when they need to do so.

And I'm to assume that the intellectuals are sadly lacking back home for you?

Oh, no. The intellectuals all switch to a different guild eventually.

Is it rather unfortunate or no?

I believe the possibility of longevity began to outweigh the thought of infinite wealth.
